SACRAMENTO -- After a one-year hiatus, the Orange Coast College athletic department is, once again, on top of the California community college sports world.
 
The California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA), in association with the National Alliance of Two-Year College Athletic Administrators (NATYCAA), today released the final standings of the 2009-10 NATYCAA Cup and after the points were tallied, OCC claimed this year's title.

COSTA MESA -- Poerava Gantt, a sophomore women's volleyball player who helped led the Pirates to the 2009 state championship, will continue her athletic and academic careers back in her home state of Hawaii, playing for Chaminade University, according to head coach Chuck Cutenese.

Men's Golf: Rough end to magical season for Pirates
 
BEAUMONT -- From the "glass is half-empty" perspective, Monday's fifth-place finish at the 2010 CCCAA Men's Golf State Championships was a less-than expected ending to the Orange Coast College men's golf season.
 
However, from the "glass is half-full" perspective, the fact that the Pirates' golf program became the first OCC golf team to reach the state finals since 1991 and produced a finish that can be topped only by the 1958 state championship team, speaks volumes for what this program has accomplished in 2010.
